Okay, the easy way to do a diet like this is basically stick to meat, dairy, and vegetables.
So drop all cakes and breads, anything processed or flour based.

Breakfast could be scrambled eggs, yoghurt for lunch, fruit and nuts for snacks, steak and veges for dinner.
There is still a lot of foods you can eat. The thing about protein is that it makes you feel "full" for a longer time than anything else. having no carbs at all can leave you craving and needing the sugar to deal with the insulin spike after a meal, so you want to make sure you have a few of those (ie the veges or a bit of fruit).

The best way to move to a new diet is slowly, so try keeping a food log of what you eat now, and then slowly ween yourself over to the new way of eating. It may not the the fast weight loss answer, but there is a WAY higher chance you will stick with it. the bonus is that your family will also benefit from it, learning how to eat healthier

A Fad diet is one that you can not sustain for the rest of your life. Dukan is pretty much the same as Atkins or other ones that are protein heavy. Good if you are not a huge bread and carbs fan, you will drop weight.
The main thing you need to remember with any low carb diet is that you should eat a lot of veges still, particularly leafy greens etc for magnesium. Magnesium helps you relax and have less cramps, but also it helps your metabolism speed up

So yeah, Dukan will be fine if you can stick with it for at least many years as a long term thing. Not worth doing if its just for a short time.

I am using Herbalife's Nutrition Shake + Protein powder. It is meal replacement. I often have 2 shakes/day + 1 colorful meal in the evening. This program helps me lose 7kg in the first month and 12kg over 2 months. I love this shake honestly

I've been using system:slim which is a low GI based weight loss plan with supplements and it seems to be working for me. I had a baby 8 months ago and all that weight and more has gone (and she was hardly breastfed at all due to complications. It's been a steady weight loss of approx a kg a week apart from my first couple of weeks which were bigger!

I just wondered if anyone else had been using it and whether it had worked for them?

Yeah portion control i think is where a lot of its at. I just used calorie counting to do that for me, it also showed up things i never thought of that i ate that had WAY to many calories
Everyone is different, what works for one doesnt always work for another. you have to do what works for you.

I have just started so when I am like Liz Q and other women who have lost 3/4 of their weight then I can actually pass judgement. Until then I can only give my opinion but right now I do not count calories; I look at portions; I have been watching alot of NZ programmes and know for me it is portion control; personally for me it is a guide that I can carry with me (my hand) I have learnt by watching other tv programmes to use your own hand as a guide; i.e. palm for size of meat the thickness etc. Reading through Liz Q links really helps; good luck I will watching your link to see how your calorie counting is going.

Its just the same information as on the website. Any diet so long as you eat less calories than you use will work.
Ideally you want to be healthy and eat a decent amount of protein, veg, and fruit, but that's not always possible in real life. This week alone I've had to contend with 2 birthday parties and very little time for anything else! Yeah i ate bad, but ill make up for it this week (promise!)

I guess what I'm saying is that any diet that's not super crazy will work, its a matter of how much hand holding and time you have to put into it.

I think it only took about a month to recall what calories were in most items anyway, so not fussed. That sounds like a wicked calorie counter againagain. I have some for my iPhone but they dont sync with the desk. Fitday.com you can use from many places.
I'll give this free stuff a trial and see if its edible. Half my problem is lack of time to prepare and cook. I rely on roasts and slow cookers and anything i can let just sit and cook itself (oven is programable).

I actually just came on to share an application that I am starting to use on my Black Berry. It is from http://www.fatsecret.com, this website is like many others where you can input food, search for food from their catalogs, input exercise, there is a forum etc... but what I really like about it is there is a sync to my Black Berry that keeps itself updated regularly from one to the other. I can input from my Black Berry and I can input straight online... they keep each other posted... I have just started using it, and it looks good so far!
The Black Berry isn`t the only phone that it supports... there are others too.

Counting calories can be painful especially if you don't have the time or commitment to do this all the time. I have started selling a line of meal replacement shakes which take the guess work out of calorie counting. All you do is replace your breakfast and lunch with the shake and then you can have anything you like for dinner. This is great for people who have a family to cook for and can't stand watching everyone else chowing down on your favourite meal while you are eating celery. If you are keen for a free sample let me know by filling out the free trial form on my website http://www.gettrimnownz.com
