OK.

So i started the Sacred Heart Fad Diet just over a week ago, stuck to it pretty well, had a few different meal choices, but nothing "BAD". Started having a small tin of tuna with 6 plain crackers for lunch and i monitored my weight every day, funny thing is the days i ate very little soup the weight loss was lousy, so I'm convinced that the soup really does help with weight loss.

I have been drinking heaps of water, trying to do a minimum of 3 liters a day.
Also started walking every morning, been doing the walk with my wife who is also on the same diet.

I started the week off at a minimum weight of 150.1 kg, why do i say that, well as i mentioned earlier the scale gives an error after 150, so i must of been at least 150.1, my weight this morning.... Drum roll please!!!!
143.8
Not bad but i was hoping for a lot more.
That's 6.3 kg in a week or 13.86 Pounds.

What is impressive and motivating is 2 things, 1 i can already feel the difference in my clothes, wearing a shirt right now that i haven't worn for a while. the second thing is this, We time our walks every day.

We walk exactly 5 km. Starts off up our steep driveway, and then the first 5 minutes are all uphill, and a nasty little bastard of a hill at that, huffing and puffing big time at the top, then its kinda flat with a slight uphill and then a longish gentle downhill (about 1 km) that leads to a flat then an uphill, coming back its all that in reverse, that long gentle constant uphill coming back is a beast, and the last downhill is a kiler, going up it kills the calves, going down it hits the shins.

So our first walk was 58 min 48 seconds. not a bad pace at all, and we were both stuffed after that, this morning we did it in 54 min 43 sec, that over 4 min faster in only 1 week, thats not a brisk walk at 140+kgs, it's an almighty speed wobble, constantly.

Day 2 i got a blister, day 3 i got a second one and we just kept on at it, cant believe how much better i feel after only 1 week, the thought of a blister would of stopped me 2 weeks ago, this time it got a band aid and we went for it anyway.

My wife and kids leave on Thursday on holiday for 2 weeks overseas to see the family,so it's going to be a real test of willpower for me to see just how committed i can be with no one to answer to, my kids are watching what I'm doing and i need to keep at it.

Hope you all hit your goals this week, i'm hoping to be at below 138 kg this time next week. Wil let you know if i'm on the money or not next week.
cheers

Hi there Liz and everyone else,

I like most of you have done the yo-yo thing, see some come off, then see it all come back WITH INTEREST. The last time was the worst because i did things properly, followed a good exercise routine, ate well and lost heaps, went from 135 kg down to 105ish and because i did a work out program with it i was starting to look pretty good. We then packed up everything and moved to NZ, had no gym stuff for 2 months, had x-mas and lots of farewells inbetween and lost motivation, well its not all loss, i did find something, all the bloody weight i lost and extra.

Now, if i was 135 kg and got extra just how bad is it.
Truth is, i don't know, Bathroom scale gives an error after 150 kg and it started to error me. I tell you what it is a real wake up moment when the scale gives you an error, almost like its saying only one at a time!!!!

So i got really pissed off. With the scale, with food, with the clothes that dont fit anymore and with the choices i have made and you know what, the more angry i got the more i focused on the culprit, the one to blame, the baddy.

ME!!!!!

I'm the one shoving the crap in my mouth, I'm the one sitting with a home gym at home, with a layer of dust on it.I'm the one who knows they to fat (I hate being p.c. correct, at 150KG+ you not heavy, you FAT, you just cant be tall enough to be a little heavy at 150KG.)I'm the one who is FAT, I'm the one who packed it all on, and I am the one that is going to have to get it all off.

I read the article on here about the biggest loser and accountability.
SO>>>
i am going to make myself accountable to all of you.
Every Monday i will give you an update of how it's going.

I have started the Sacred heart diet this week as a bit of a kick start, will keep you posted.

Liz, thanks for the website.

I found the bike was a great way to get some exercise, and i was able to get around alot to making it a great mode of transport!

Okay, scales say a couple kg down, diet went out the window on the weekend but hasnt been too bad otherwise. Had a couple small things that have been just annoying me, chocolate (small amount), butter chicken for dinner etc. Today im countering some of that with veg and bacon bone soup. Also, I have been doing more on the spin bike again, and have a 90km bike race/ride this weekend. The forcast is for pouring rain, so im sure its going to be mega enjoyment (NOT!)

been back on eating healthy diet, except for a couple slices of banana cake yesterday (but thats a fruit so its ok right?) The muffins ran out, so been having a lot of vegetable stews and soups with meat chunks or steak, its great!
Boarder is totally happy that he's loosing weight without even trying heh. Feeling a bit headachy today, and yesterday i had an allergy day so very little exercise has been done. Ill get on the spin bikt either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Ack got sidetracked and busy and never updated. Diet was going fine until last night. Yesterday me and the daughter cycled to Rotorua from Cambridge on the tandem, its a round trip entirely uphill of 85km. A hard task i tell you, especially considering it was raining off and on the entire time!
We were 50-60km in when i heard an odd noise like a leaf in the brakes so i stopped. I noticed the noise was still there after stopping at which point i saw something green on the tyre. I flicked it off at which point the rest of the air left in the tyre just went 'woosh' and i was left staring at a large slice in the tyre.
I was just beginning to become annoyed at this point and turned to tell my daughter, when a car went past and honked as it did, i looked up to see my husband (who was meeting us at the other end of the ride) go past, so i waved him down. Talk about fantastic timing! We hitched the bike onto the back of the car and took off our wet shoes and drove the rest of the way.
So we had lunch, i did well with a sandwich and fruit, then dinner was a BBQ for geocachers at which point i was really hitting the wall tired and started to overeat. On the plus side the foods i ate were mostly meat and veg, with only a couple of chippies and bits of other things. Woke today feeling rather hungover (much like the possum we saw yesterday hanging over a fence dead!).
Today i'm resting and drinking a ton of water <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

Ive been a touch broke, and muffins were on sale, hence why im living on that for breaky <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />
yesterday breakfast and lunch was 2 eggs on a muffin (its also yummy!)
Dinner was a protein bar since i was a hurry to go out. Second dinner was some meat, tomato, potato thing
Then i had another muffin before bed.
I did 30 mins on the spin bike which revved up my system so bad, i was starving whilst waiting for my daughter to do her cheerleading.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/3633933/The-key-to-shedding-weight

Motivation and keeping a journal of what you eat are key components for shedding excess weight, according to new research.

Scientists at the University of Kentucky and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that the type of motivation for dieting and techniques to boost it when it dips could mean the difference between success and failure.

"Motivation has an impact on weight loss but the impact is really mediated by adherence to self-monitoring," said Kelly H. Webber, an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky. "If you are going to self-monitor your diet and exercise every day you are going to lose more weight.

Webber, who along with her colleagues reported the findings in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, said the best way to self-monitor is to keep a journal of everything you eat and how much you exercise.

The researchers studied two types of motivation, autonomous and controlled, during a 16-week weight-loss program involving 66 overweight women. Autonomous motivation is driven by personal reasons, while controlled motivation is based more on pressure from others and feelings of guilt.

They found that dieters who were self motivated and who kept a journal tended to be more successful.

"People who actually write down everything they eat and drink during the weight loss program are going to do better. And that is probably why commercial programs like Weight Watchers are very successful," said Webber.

All of the dieters were given questionnaires and asked to describe their motivation. Their weight loss and motivation were measured every four weeks during the program. They also measured their own progress with a online self-monitoring program.

"The importance of motivation is that it gets you to self motivate, which is the behavior that matters in weight loss," Webber explained.

Sustaining motivation was also essential because once it began to drop, usually between weeks four to eight, successful dieters who dropped 5 percent of their body weight were those who managed to keep the motivation going.

Webber suggested that if motivation starts to fall after about four weeks it would be a good time to boost it with initiatives.

"We think that contact with a counsellor is always helpful with motivation and contact with other people trying to lose weight," she said.

"Seek support. I think we need support to keep continually motivated. Some people are successful on their own but most of us need support."

Todays meals
Breakfast was muffin + coffee (as usual, they were on special last week lol) 300
Lunch was light yoghurt and a carrot (nicked off co-worker) 150

Dinner was not to great. I ran outta veg, couldn't be buggered shopping since its raining etc. Ended up making beer batter (with beer!) and doing potato and kumera/sweet potato cubes, then crumbed schnitzel. Fat content was rather ... high? for dinner. 800cals (guessing here, i didn't eat a big portion, but it was high fat)

On the plus side i did just shy of an hour on the spin bike.

Just about to have my night time muffin and tea and head to bed.

Got home last last night after my younger daughters cheerleading. Older daughter had done 1.5 hours of cycling whilst i was out, but i only managed to do 30 mins. Our 'Gym' is in the garage and we have a boarder in the room that backs onto the garage. I was very aware that he wanted to go to bed so I didn't want to make any noise, hence why i stuck with a very hard out 30 min workout.

Tonight I'll do more exercise which i *need* to do .
As for food, last night i managed to eat a few spoonfuls of the cottage pie before dashing out(200cals?), then had a BK ice cream (100cal) whilst out. I got home, did my 30 mins spin, then had my usual muffin(100) & tea before bed.

Okay, spin bike never happened, ate more chocolates. Not such a great outcome :/
Today i had 1.5 muffins for breaky plus coffee(300cals). Lite yoghurt for lunch(100cals), and an anzac cookie for afternoon tea (made by my son)(50cals)
I finished off the last 5 Favourite chocolates (250 cals)
Dinner should be shepards pie, or i may skip that and have a protein bar since im heading out for several hours.
Hopefully I'll get time to do a spin session on the bike.

Ack i thought yesterday wasnt good. Today we had muffin with 2 eggs & hollendaise again, then another spicey fruit muffin + coffee (450-500cals)
Lunch was skipped, usual weekend thing. I get up late to breakfast becomes lunch and its usually larger, slower, etc
Friend came around with a box of 'Favourites' chocolates as a thanks, i ate about 3 or 4, plus some lollies (250cals) throughout the day.
Dinner i had 2 lamb chops, 2 small bacon sausage things, couscous (i skipped the deep fried chips the others had) (900 cal?)
I did the cross trainer for half an hour burning off 250 cals. Im heading out to do some cycling on the spin bike for a bit now also, then eating again before going to bed (as usual)

Not so great a day yesterday. Eggs benni for breakfast/lunch. Dinner was steak, veg soup, and a couple sausages plus a glass of wine. We ended up having a LOT of guests over and it was hard to not drink tons or eat tons. I think i did ok considering. I never did go for the bike ride yesterday with daughter because i was so tired from lack of sleep.
I slept well last night but daughter has a friend over so unable to go cycling today. Time to go move the the stereo and a TV screen into the garage i think and get on the spin bike <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />

Yesterday Lunch i did end up going out, i had french toast because the breakfast was the best option on both taste and fat content (I really wanted the fries and BLT or at least eggs benni!). so 1.5 slices of bread, an egg, a tiny bit of bacon, and fruit. The only bad thing was maple and that wasn't to bad. ( 400 cals?)
Dinner was corned silverside with home made white sauce base with parsley and a bit of mustard, potatoes, & pumpkin. ( 600 cals).
Supper was a muffin (100 ) and then yogurt (50) because i couldnt sleep and it was 1am.
No exercise, still having sleeping problems. I'm up again early delivering papers with my daughter today, supposed to be cycling today but im just so tired i want to go back to bed :/
I think ill go back to bed, see if i can sleep again.

I forgot to do the spin in the morning lol, forgot to set my alarm :O
To top it off i didnt bike to work either because it was wet and the kids did not want to, and then we were late :/
On a plus side, the muffins ive been having i thought had 180-200 cals each were only about 100 each so i can probably deduct some calories off what ive been eating.
Breakfast today was muffins without eggs (forgot to bring em in the rush) and of course the trim moccha.
Today is going out to lunch day with work, *everyone* at work goes to lunch at a local eatery, and i suspect today is going to be indian so really fatty. I did bring my own lunch, so im going to stay in the office and eat that instead, then go to warehouse and find another pair of pants that fit me until i loose the extra again.
