Just wondering, if your doctor advised you to lose weight? I was 128 kg and throughout my life as my weight went up and up and up, never ONCE did my doctor/s tell me to lose weight?! I was kinda waiting for them to, but no one ever did, even when I had a panic attack I mistook for a heart attack.

You only get 5 minutes with them I know, but I think they need to take obesity more seriously and bring it up with their patients if need be. I mean it is a serious health issue. I know people 120kg plus with high blood pressure, who have not been advised to lose weight! Simply given meds for blood pressure and test for diabetes. no diabetes, so no warnings. It seems very ambulance at the bottom of the cliff to me.

So tell me, how much do you weigh and has your doctor advised you to lose weight???

Hmm I dont recall if a Doctor ever said anything at all to me, i have a feeling they did a couple of times actually, but yeah i wasnt into it.
Then once i asked about what i could do they gave me referal to a dietitian for some free consults (you get 6 free consultations if you are refered from your doc), i went to the first 2 at which point she did nothing but try selling me books so never went back.
Kinda glad i did it on my own now because i KNOW it was all me and not anyone else i guess.

I didnt know about the 6 free consults? Wonder if that still exists?!

I dont think nutritionists, or other professionals involved in weightloss should really be beating their own drum by selling you books, or bars or whatever. It crosses the line from professionalisim to commercialisim to me.

Yeah, i agree about the selling stuff.
In fact the first week she just handed me a piece of paper and told me to log what i ate, second visit i gave it too her and she gave me another and told me to eat healthier things
third visit i gave it back to her and i had eaten worse and she again just said 'eat healthier' and tried to convince me too.
Never stopped to actually explain anything about energy or calorie requirements or anything

My doctor only made the comment I've put on a bit of weight. Yeah I know..lol.

But a good friend who is about 95kgs went to the her doctor, a woman, who is overweight herself, concerned about her weight and wanting advice on how to loose it. And the silly doctor told her she didn't need to loose any and left my friend feeling unheard.
